I felt so low and depressed. I'd just sit on the sofa in my pyjamas all day - it got to the point where I just wasn't leaving the house.
Being so sedentary, caused my health to deteriorate rapidly, I could barely pick up my kids.
Our diet was rubbish. We'd order so many takeaways. We were literally throwing away money on food that was making us feel like crap.
I was becoming really lazy. It got to the point where I wouldn't even run for the bus - I'd rather wait 20 minutes for the next one.
It was so hard to break out of this viscous cycle of feeling rubbish all the time. I wanted to get better for my kids, but I had to get to the stage where I wanted to do it for myself.
I tried Slimming World and Weight Watchers. I would hardly eat anything during the day and then binge on 'free food' at night. It just wasn't sustainable for me.
It was around this time, my husband joined with Team RH. It was mad to me that he was allowed so many calories but was still losing weight and keeping it off.
It was after the second lockdown in July 2020, that everything seemed to click for me. I took the plunge and signed up to the Life Plan.
I've been on the plan now for just over a year and weigh around 155lbs after dropping 7 dress sizes.
I eat 2000 calories a day and have learned to listen to my body and fuel it properly. There's no good or bad food on the plan, if I want a bag of crisps, I'll have them, and won't berate myself after like I used to.
I always keep at least 20% of my calories for my sweet tooth too, I just make sure to track 100%.
Before Team RH, I would barely leave the house because of anxiety.
Now I walk at least 10,000 steps a day and workout 5 times a week, either at the gym or at kickboxing.
My life has completely changed. Me and my husband now train together and absolutely love it, and it's made me so much more active with the kids.
My advice to anyone thinking of joining would be to stick at it. Give 100% to the plan and you'll reap the rewards.
It will change you both physically and mentally. It's not just a ploy to get you to lose weight, it's a complete lifestyle change.
